VSO Membership!
The
Virginia Society of Otolaryngology held its annual meeting at the
Charlottesville Omni in Charlottesville on April 23 & 24,
2010. Highlights of the
meeting included excellent clinically oriented lectures by Dr. Peak
Woo, MD, Tom Wang, MD and Bradley Marple, MD. There were original
resident presentations from all four Virginia Medical School
Otolaryngology programs. The
first place resident Oral award, along with a $500 check, was
presented to Thomas Higgins, MD, Eastern Virginia Medical School the
second place Oral award, along with a $250 check, was presented to
Timothy Clenney, MD, Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and the poster award
went to Philip Chen, MD, University of Virginia Medical School.
New officers for 2010 - 2011 were installed at
the annual meeting. The
Officers and Members at Large are: President: Daniel Karakla,
MD; President Elect: Richard Gardner, MD; First Vice-President:
Jeffery Kuhn, MD; Secretary-Treasurer:
Andrew Heller, MD; Board Chairman: Gregory Zachmann MD, FACS; Members
at Large: Stephen Bane, MD; Nariman Dash, MD; Kelley Dodson, MD;
Eric Furst, MD; Joseph Han, MD; Bradley Kesser, MD.
As usual, your state specialty society is doing
all they can to protect your interests. We have secured a lobbyist, Karin
Addison with Addison Elwood Consulting to keep us abreast of any
issues or bills that come up that effect our profession. We may be contacting you to ask for
your help on this issues and perhaps others. We need your help and
support to deal with statewide legislative and regulatory issues that
affect your practices and your patients' well-being. Please help us
update our database so we can contact you quickly and efficiently if
needed.
